This pet is a free gift for purchasing Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm Collector's Edition. This edition was sold in stores (in limited quantity), but it can also be found on auction websites.

A rolling, explosive member of the Zerg swarm, the baneling deals terrible, terrible damage. Very dangerous in close quarters.
He and his animations looks ASTONISHING !!! His head and front reminds me Xenomorphs sooo badly ;)))). Animation of his belly growing up and down while he is breathing is awesome as well as when he is digging himself into the ground :). Battlewise, with its moveset, also very very interesting pet. As Unknownhand pointed, CH, paired with Thrash and Burrow might be murderous while battling critters. Leveling and testing him now...
Think about Baneling this way: Start with CH to get speed 514 for 2 rounds, use Thrash once for 342-513 damage, then Burrow which will avoid your opponents attack and lose your speed buff to 257 as long as they are 260 and above they will go first and miss. I think this is the first time I have noticed a pet being specifically made to play with opponents speed in such a way. BB will always hit the enemy pet and wont effect status of barrier+ buff health for more damage.
Baneling is back to being available, along with the even more collectable Mini Thor pet, and the soon-to-be-released new mini-Archon pet if you buy StarCraft II: The Complete Collection - Digital Deluxe from the Blizzard store. You get all three pets and an actual whole other game and expansions to occasionally think about playing!
Patch 6.2 this pet has been changed from the Magic family to Critter.
If you are looking to just get him as a pet -fine. I would not go out and order all those games just to get this one if you are looking for a good battle pet. He's pretty bad.

I received mine after purchasing the Digital Deluxe edition just like most Blizzard items or achievement pets, log out, back in, poof you have pets. As for stats, I don't know if my Petjournal Enhanced is dated or Warcraft Pets is not displaying stats properly but mine at 25 is

Very versatile, my ability loadout is usually Thrash, Centrifugal Hooks, and Burrow. Deadly against critters, and his Burst is awesome for a sacrifice setup.

Once I purchased the upgrade for Star Craft on my battle.net account I logged into WoW and Mr. Cutie (Baneling) was in my mailbox.
For those with the pet, did he have a code to redeem or did he automatically
get added to your account. I want the pet but not the game.

Geodude uses Self Destruct, its not very effective, HOW DID I DIE THEN!

got mine today, it does not seem to interact with Grunty
Just got this little beastie in the mail, It is amazing! It rolls around after you and burrows into the ground and goes invisible, it also pulsates and looks amazing! Comes with an achievement too. Love it!
I know this isn't available yet but let me exclude it. I hate looking at things I can't have!
