I had a battle pet that I had bought out of the AH, just realised it was in my bag, when I added it to my collection standing by Trainer Orlagg 46 82 Zaralek Cavern, I got the secretive Frogduck also!

it seems that the achievement has been changed from 1,500 to 1,400 pets and upon capturing of another pet, if you have over 1,400 you will recieve the achieve. Doesnt have to be a unique pet. i captured a duplicate pet (had 1,448 unique at time of post) and it finally updated to giving me this cutie pie as well as my achievement.
