Although specific battle pets weren't named, some creatures were teased that have pet-potential (or at least, we think so).
Even more "proto"-creatures can be spotted in the 9.2 Developer Preview video. What type of creature are you hopeful to see as a collectible pet in 9.2?
A release date for Patch 9.2 has not been announced yet. Once the PTR opens up for testing, we'll be sure to hop right in to check out all the upcoming battle pets, so stay tuned!

For diversity, I believe curious a pet of the new NPC in the first picture and at left bottom corner. This one that fly in the air as a ghost with a like of hat. I saw this NPC in the preview video doing bizarre sounds while are working (sounds that are a language, of course).
We have tons of birds, frogs, rabbits and critters a lot with the same talents, why make more? How about a Horse or Foal, Ladybirds that come in all colours, Caterpillars that can evolve into 'Butterflies' , Zebras, Koalas, Axolotls, Dolphins, Bushbabies for example and that's just off the top of my head? What happened to the breeding kennels we were promised? As a Customer that hates the Mythic elitism pushed on players the only thing keeping me logging into wow are my Guild, pets and mounts
I want the dog as a pet.
