I love Slugs. There should be more slug pets, only like 4 slugs but 1 Billion snail pets. Their abilities are decent. Named mine Gwen.

To reprise what Ellewhite said:

 

Found fairly easily on the peninsula just east of the Wingrest Embassy.  If you don't see any pets at all at first, click on the binoculars icon immediately to the left of the zone name in the upper right of the UI and ensure the Pets tracking is on.  It is off by default.

Found as the primary pet near Wingrest Embassy (77.3, 30.1) on The Waking Shores. He was near a magma waterfall, which makes sense for a "Magma Slug."
