2013 Arena Pass Rated Phase Delayed

August 04, 2013

There was a recent announcement regarding the delay of the rated phase of the Arena Pass event. [source]

Although it was originally scheduled to start July 30, an issue has come up that needs to be resolved before the rated phase can commence. This affects both US and EU Arena Pass.

We have become aware of an issue that has prevented Arena Pass teams from being reset. To allow for time to resolve the issue and allow teams to plan accordingly, we currently intend to extend the practice phase and instead begin the rated phase of the Arena Pass on August 6. Currently, the conclusion of the rated phase is still planned for August 27.

The new schedule for the rated phase is:

  • August 6, 2013 to August 27, 2013 (US)
  • August 7, 2013 to August 27, 2013 (EU)

If you haven't played 50 rated matches for Murkimus yet, you may want to hold off until next week to start. Any Arena Pass games played prior to August 6 or August 7 will not count towards qualifying for the pet.

Those that have already started or completed 50 games will need to be sure to complete 50 matches in the coming weeks. With all of that extra practice, Murkimus the Gladiator would be proud of such a dedicated combatant!

Pet Collection Limit Increased to 1000 in 5.4

August 09, 2013
With 33 pets coming in Patch 5.4, there was concern that collections would soon be nearing the cap for total number of pets allowed.

Pet Collection Limit Increased to 1000 in 5.4
Currently, players may keep 650 pets in their Pet Journal, with duplicates being limited to 3 of each pet. Talk about a tight squeeze in your journal!

However good news has come — Mumper, Lead Content Designer at Blizzard, recently Tweeted an image that showed the collection limit being raised to a staggering 1000 total pets! [source]

He went on to clarify that this change is set to happen in the upcoming 5.4 patch.

The number of duplicates allowed will remain the same, but this raise in the cap of total pets will definitely give players more room to freely collect multiples.

As more companions are released over time, we'll see just how soon we'll fill up all these new pet slots. Hopefully not too quickly!

World of Warcraft TCG Coming to An End

August 31, 2013
UPDATE: Over the past week, prices for most TCG pets and other loots have actually dropped [source: WoWTCGLoot.com]. So it looks like now really is a great time to buy!

Blizzard recently announced that the latest TCG release, Timewalkers: Reign of Fire, is to be last set in the WoW trading card game. [source]

WoW TCG Ending: The end of an era
This is sad news for pet collectors, as we won't be seeing any brand new TCG pets in the future. However, all loot cards from previous blocks are included in Timewalkers: Reign of Fire. So if you're still looking for a certain TCG loot code, this last expansion is a great opportunity to test your luck.

But remember, Timewalkers: Reign of Fire and the other TCG blocks won't be in print much longer. It's tough to predict exactly what prices on the secondary market will do, but a rise seems likely.

Purchasing Specific Loots
If you've been meaning to purchase a TCG pet loot card, now may be the best time. You can find links to purchase these pets right here on WarcraftPets by visiting each pet's profile:

All 15 TCG Loot Pets

To get the current best price on eBay, look for the Buy It Now link in the pet's "General" tab.

Keep in mind that many of these TCG companions can be caged and traded or sold in-game. So these pets should still be readily available for many years to come.

Redeeming Loot Cards
Although the TCG is coming to a close, players will always be able to redeem any loot cards they own through the official Promotion Code Retrieval Page.

Good luck completing your TCG pet collection!
