@Mightyruler It's not summer anymore. The won't be back until summer as that's the only time they spawn. Right now is the time to get the snowey owls

Don't worry there wasn't a pet. The article say that Hogs was originally going to be a pet reward but was removed at the last minute. He no longer has anything to do with the event.
They did do hogger raids. Any time there were a ton of severs down, people would make level 1 humans on whatever servers were still up (usually newer servers) and form raid groups to take Hogger down. They were a ton of fun.

After a 2 year hiatus from pet collecting, I have decided to return. My enthusiasm still isn't what it used to be as the samyness of many of the pets still bothers me, but I've decided to jusy ignore them and ignore the rankings on this site and just collect what I want.
