Oh. Oh man. How many strategies are gonna have to be re-worked now...
Found mine mear where Mirecrawler spawns, around 37, 17. Hadn't seen anyone else mention finding one in that area, so wasn't even looking for it -- just happened to see it by chance.
The Nether Faerie Dragon (and its 'normal' cousin, the Sprite Darter) is one of my favorite flying counters. Two of them can wipe out Veshaar, while boosting a level 1 pet. Plus, they're downright adorable!
Oh man I am so delighted by the new things! A new infinite dragon pet! Pet shoulder enchants! Woooo! Also, the corgi is adorable, of course -- saved an ultimate battle-stone just for him. ...Then blew another 400 tokens on two more, because I didn't realize he isn't cageable until after I'd 'learned' them. Oops. :|
Pet classes can have trouble starting a battle with the Dream Whelplings. If you're getting the 'Failed to create pet battle.' error, dismiss your pet, and try again.
Found mine in the Weeping Bluffs around 36,52 (the area where the rare mob Whitewater Typhoon spawns). There's four beaver spawns there (three in the small pond with Typhoon, one closer to the crashed airship), so it's easy to get rid of the critters while watching all four spots.
Fighting this pet wild is a good non-tamer way to get xp for your pets, even as low as level 1. Two out of three of its abilities never cause damage on the first round. And, unlike all the other wild striders, it spawns very frequently in a very small area, and there are few, if any, enemies to interrupt your battling.
Please please be another pet with the cinderkitten model! *crosses fingers*
Acquired mine last night (finally!), and just wanted to mention -- for some reason, I got both one in my bags immediately upon logging in, and had a second one waiting for me in the mailbox. Not sure if this is normal or not, but it's yet another one where I have a spare item for it lurking in my bank, because I can never bring myself to delete them.
This and the mirror are probably my two favorite pet-related things added to date. Sadly, though, it looks like the kitties won't lap-sit if you're in any kind of instance, not just LFR. They'll run up to you as if they're about to hop, but then they just stand there and stare at you. :<
Found mine in the vestibule leading to the FP landing pad. Something that might help everyone: You can set your map to show your target (click the magnifying glass, then select Target). That way you can see exactly where it is, since you can /target it from an annoyingly long distance away. From what I've seen, respawns take seven to ten minutes, so it's not too bad. It occasionally doesn't despawn right away, so if you're not getting it when you /cheer, it possibly was claimed seconds earlier.
According to the screenshot over here, it'll be 400 for all of the pets, 500 for the mirror, and another 150 for the toys, so 1050 in total, if you want everything.
Well, time to get back to grinding out pet charms! Glad I've been hoarding them.
So many fantastic additions coming. I have a feeling the mirror will have a special place in my hotbar. Though now I wonder if it'll stack with World Enlarger / World Shrinker...
Finally got around to making an alt for a guild that had the pet unlocked, went and quested up until I hit revered, then headed to the vendor -- only to see no pet. It looks like it's been retired, so if you don't have it, you most likely have missed out completely. :( I've put in a ticket to ask, just in case, but I won't have my hopes up. :c -- ETA: Yeah, according to the WCP forums, it's retired from the guild vendors and only available on the Black Market Auction House. The MPD is one of my favorite go-to pets for several battles. He's first in line for both of the Darkmoon tamers, able to take down Jeremy's first two pets with no problem, and putting a major dent in Christoph's. His best PvE use, however, is for Ashlei in WoD's Shadowmoon Valley. The MPD can solo the fight, meaning you can carry two other pets for an excellent XP boost, even level 1s.. Edit: Sadly, Thunderbolt was nerfed. Still one of my top favorite pets, but still disappointing.
Every possible spawn point I checked for these had nothing but critter versions, except for the pool below the cliff along the south edge of Deadgrin, around 40.7 x 75.6. There were several wild battle versions spawned there.
This one is incredibly difficult to get if you don't have an Alliance character. Getting to it means going through an Alliance city, Elodor, and without some sort of stealth ability, you'll likely face lots of dying. There might be another way, but all of the guides and videos I've found have all been from Alliance-side. This is the best one I've found -- if you're horde, just follow the same route while stealthed: http://youtu.be/Dtt50DAwC24
The plateau to the southeast of Wor'gol is the only place I've found these. It doesn't cluster, like the other wild pets in the zone; instead, you'll find single ones scattered about with a good bit of distance between them. Fortunately, there are very few hostile mobs, and those that are there are usually killed by friendly patrols. Be prepared to slaughter lots of critter versions on your way to finding a rare, though.
In my opinion, this is one of the best battle pets available. As many others have said, it's great for leveling lower pets. It's also able to solo most of the NPC tamers that can be challenged daily - including some of the Pandarian ones, such as the Whispering spirit. Personally, it's a core member of my group of battle pets, rarely exchanged for anything else because of its usefulness.
This little guy is awesome for battles. Between stuns, damage mitigation, and an automatic heal you don't have to waste turns on, he's easily able to take on groups of creatures two or three levels above him. As long as he's not fighting something that deals Undead-type damage, he's a serious beast, well worth leveling for a permanent place on your regular teams.
More baby raptors! Joy! They're tied with the cats both the 'housecat' and 'cub' types) for my favorites. Such fun, awesome new pets to gather up this patch, though I am so not looking forward to raiding again.
Somehow, in the grind to find the raptors, I managed to find six of the Zandalari Anklerenders, and two Zandalari Toenibblers, but none of the other two! Bah. That gives me one each for myself and a friend; maybe I can trade off the other four and get the ones I'm missing.
For now, bedtime!
