There's so much to do in WoW these days that it's overwhelming. Adding and leveling pets is how I wind down after a challenging dungeon or questline. Looking forward to the BfA pets!

My niece, who introduced me to WoW, got one of these. Years later, her parents insisted she share her account with her sister, "since you don't even play anymore", not understanding the lull between expansions. Sister deleted the character with the pet.

Killed everything that moved in the cave last night, repeatedly. Nothing. Tried again this morning. Eventually, one spawned, but attempts to battle him met with 'you cannot pet battle in combat'. The marmot next to him, sure, but not the oozeling. Logged out, back in, and got him. Much to my surprise and delight, he is rare. Last time that happened was with a squirrel, the first day.

A highborn poltergeist attacked me in Darkmist Ruins in Feralas. Surprise! That was the final escort quest, coming about a year after I'd given up farming for it.

Re: Dark Whelpling

One of the quests in the tiny flamefly questline requires killing 5 broodlings. That's where my dark whelpling came from. Totally unexpected; in fact, I didn't notice him until clearing out my inventory after turning in the quest.
