Haven't seen any in the cave down south yet, but I did just have one come up as an extra pet when fighting a rabbit. Unfortunately it was a poor, they all have been so far. 

Can indeed confirm these spawn all over the place now, and seem to respawn within minutes! I went through a few before I got a rare, but there was no one else there and after a while I realised it wouldn't have mattered if there was! Go nuts, people! :D 

Just got my first one, an Uncommon, wandering across the sand right by The Noxious Lair on the way down from Sandsorrow Watch. This thing is FAST! (Oh, and no sandstorm!)

Yep, went round twice between Southpoint Gate and Azurelode Mine killing all the adults, then on my third go round I spotted one (the adults respawn straight away), Uncommon so I nabbed it (would have even if it was poor!). Saw another one as I contined round, but Common so I left it. Didn't see any more and couldn't be bothered trying for a rare. Sooo cute!
