This is absolutely a morning spawn, and only INSIDE the cave (perhaps at the mouth). Repeated testing of times to check for this has confirmed a roughly 0000 - 0900 spawn. This pet is highly competed for and a rare quality one battles quite well.

Lots of these spawn around Dreadmaul Rock.

Spent around an hour searching the river system mentioned in the other posts. Only found Water Snakes. I cleared those to level some of my midrange pets as i searched but respawns were also Water Snakes. Then I moved to the small river pool south of the Temple of Atal'Hakkar and there was a Moccassin there. Only one I found. Approx 10:15 am server.
