Got this and Lumpy in the same Stolen Present...too bad I already had Lumpy. Christmas came early!

I got this pet before I became a "collector". It was my first time fishing in the lake, I was just curious what I would fish up, and lo and behold I got the box on my very first cast. The funny thing is, I took a hiatus from playing WoW before I used up the third wish, so months later I came back and clicked my third wish and there was my new pet. He's still my favorite of the bunch.

I second the Swamp of Sorrows suggestion, it took me less than 45 minutes of farming the waterways to obtain the pet (about 20 bags or so). There were two other active farmers and the spawn rate for the slimes was still super fast.
