Patch 8.2 PTR: Stratholme Pet Dungeon Overview

May 02, 2019
UPDATE: Another achievement that's likely related to the Stratholme Pet Dungeon was added, Malowned. This achievement requires defeating Postmaster Malown in a pet battle, and it rewards the Burnout battle pet.

To summon Malown, players will need to find and click on a Discarded Letter. This object is small and usually hidden near boxes; there are multiple spawn locations within the dungeon. After interacting with the letter, click on the mailbox located in the area just before Stage 10, and Malown will appear shortly after.

Stratholme Pet Dungeon is finally open for testing on the 8.2 PTR! We dove right in and here are some insights on what to expect — SPOILERS ahead!

Note that due to the nature of the PTR, the following may not be final and could change prior to release.

Tiny Take-Over Of Stratholme
Word around town is that something sinister is happening in a certain ruined city in northern Eastern Plaguelands. Who or what could overtake an already diseased and Undead-overrun place like Stratholme? Let's send in our battle pets to find out!

In Patch 8.2, level 120 Horde can speak with Radek Fuselock (nearby Happy Holaua) in Dazar'alor, and level 120 Alliance can talk to Tizzy Gearjolt (outside Dana Pull's store) in Boralus to pick up the breadcrumb quest, 'Restless Dead', which leads to Argent Crusade member Sean Wilkers, just outside of backdoor Stratholme.

In addition to being a quest NPC, he is also the Stratholme Pet Dungeon vendor. Unlike previous Pet Dungeons that offered only 3 pets to purchase, Sean Wilkers sells a total of 4 new pets, plus an Unopened Stratholme Supply Crate.

Each pet will require Cleansed Remains, is Bind On Pick Up, and cannot be caged. Players will need a total of 9 Cleansed Remains to buy one of each pet.

After completing 'Restless Dead', the next quest is 'Tiny Terrors of Stratholme'. Completing it will reward an Ultimate Battle-Training Stone, and the ability to teleport using Manapoof directly to backdoor Stratholme.

Minimancer
The challenge version of this Pet Dungeon is also unlocked upon turning in 'Tiny Terrors of Stratholme'. Pick up and complete the account-wide weekly quest, 'Pet Battle Challenge: Stratholme', to earn Cleansed Remains.

Same as previous Pet Dungeons, completing the Challenge version of the scenario will award an achievement of the same name and players will earn a new pet. The pet reward this time is Minimancer (pictured left)!

Inside Stratholme Pet Dungeon
The Stratholme Pet Dungeon has a total of 11 stages. Enemy pet teams are a mix of Undead, Magic, Dragonkin, and Beast families, plus a few battles have an additional twist to them!

Inside Stratholme Pet Dungeon
There are 11 pet encounters — all enemy pets are level 25. Here's a quick breakdown of each stage.

As noted above, a few of these battles have additional mechanics and may not be the usual, straightforward fight. Nefarious Terry and Blackmane both have passives that transform upon their 'defeat'.

We hope you're ready to help cleanse Stratholme. Get your battle pets ready; these Shadowy Figures causing critter chaos aren't going to go down without a fight.

Recruit-A-Friend Program Going On Hiatus Soon

May 10, 2019
Blizzard recently announced that they will be putting the Recruit-A-Friend program on hold, starting June 11, 2019, for an unknown amount of time. [source]

Recruit-A-Friend (RAF) is heading into the workshop! The longstanding RAF program is going on hiatus while we construct something new that makes it even more rewarding to introduce your friends to World of Warcraft. As of June 11, 2019, the current program will come to an end, and you’ll no longer be able to send new RAF invitations. Don’t worry though—the program will be back in its new form before you know it.

To take advantage of the current RAF program, your friend will need to link a qualifying WoW account to yours before June 11, and will have 90 days to purchase game time to trigger any rewards.* Check out the RAF web page for the details on the current program and the available rewards.

We look forward to sharing the details of the new RAF program with you in the future!

*Recruited friends must not already have a World of Warcraft account, or their account must be fewer than 30 days old. Link period lasts for 90 days after your friend's account was first created.

There are currently 4 battle pet rewards (pictured above) from Recruit-A-Friend (plus 5 mounts). The pets are BoP and cannot be caged.

In light of the hiatus, pet enthusiasts may want to consider collecting these battle pets sooner rather than later. Check out our Community Guide on How to Recruit Yourself.

It's unclear what will become of these rewards, what changes will be made, and when the program will return. Hopefully more information will be available in the near future.

WoW's 15th Anniversary: Coming Soon — Lil' Nefarian

May 14, 2019
WoW 15th Anniversary
WoW will be celebrating its 15th anniversary in November of this year. Blizzard released details on what we can expect during the celebratory event, including a collectible Lil' Nefarian!

Upcoming Anniversary Rewards
Lil' Nefarian
To commemorate WoW's 15th anniversary, Blizzard will be releasing special goodies, such as an Anniversary Collector's Edition Box that comes with many physical rewards plus new in-game mounts.

In addition to physical items, the in-game Anniversary Event will also feature the Obsidian Worldbreaker mount and Lil' Nefarian battle pet (pictured right)! [source]

The mount will require the completion of an upcoming special anniversary 25-man raid, however the pet will be rewarded to all players that simply log on during the event.

More details on the in-game event will be provided in the future. Blizzard's official press release on the anniversary can be found here.

We can't wait to add Lil' Nefarian to our ever-growing battle pet family. Speaking of family... Lil' Deathwing and Onyxian Whelpling are sure to give Lil' Nefarian the warmest of welcomes.
