Patch 7.3.5 PTR: Mailemental, PVP Pet Battle Achievements & More

December 02, 2017
The next testing phase has begun, and the PTR has revealed a new pet, new Pet PVP challenges, plus a possible continuation of Uuna's story. [source]

You've Got Mail! (And It's A New Pet)
Patch 7.3.5 will have at least one new pet waiting for collectors, a Magic pet named Mailemental. (pictured below)

Mailemental
This pet was likely inspired by a suggestion on the Battle.net Pet Battle forums! Although the PTR version does differ a bit from the original idea, it's easy to see the similarities.

The Mailemental has many fun "mail" themed abilities.

  • 1 - Package Drop
  • 2 - Snail Mail
  • 4 - Return to Sender
  • 10 - Express Delivery
  • 15 - Hate Mail
  • 20 - Life Exchange

It's currently unclear how we'll collect this new pet, but according to datamined data it's possible we'll have to complete a questline involving delivering mail around Azeroth.

We can't wait to learn more, stay tuned!

New PVP Pet Battle Achievements
Master Trainer's Tabard
There are new challenges and a cosmetic award waiting for PVP Pet Battle enthusiasts in the upcoming patch.

Styled similarly to Family Familiar and Family Fighter, each achievement requires winning 10 queued PVP Pet Battle matches with three level 25 pets from the same family.

Complete all 10 achievements and earn the "Family Brawler" meta-achievement which rewards the Master Trainer's Tabard! (pictured right)

Are you ready to take on other players and claim your place as a Master Trainer?

Uuna's Story?
Uuna
Not much is known about Uuna, a young Draenei girl that met her end on Argus. Players can liberate her spirit from an Ur'zul and adopt her, but that appears to be the end of her story. For now.

In Patch 7.3.5 players might be able to help Uuna's lost spirit continue her journey.

There is quite a bit of datamined broadcast text involving Uuna. SPOILERS ALERT — read the dialogue at your own discretion.

Wowhead Site Director Perculia speculates that much of Uuna's story will take place during the new allied race Lightforged Draenei questline.

Patch 7.3.5 PTR: New Silithid Pet & Mailemental Update

December 05, 2017
In this week's PTR build we preview a new Silithid pet, learn how we'll obtain the Mailemental companion, and more. [source]

New Silithid Pet
Silithid Grub
Another new pet was added to the Pet Journal on the 7.3.5 PTR, Unevolved Silithid Grub (pictured right). It has an updated look that distinguishes it somewhat from the existing Silithid Hatchling.

Not much is currently known about this companion, only that it will drop from Silithus: The Wound.

There are a few new rarespawns in the updated zone, each using the same updated appearance as the battle pet version. It's possible that this pet is a rare drop from these creatures. We'll have to wait and see!

Check out all 7.3.5 datamined pets

Collecting the Mailemental
In our previous PTR coverage we reported a new pet, Mailemental, however it was unknown how collectors would obtain this companion.

Priority Mail achievement
Today it was revealed that the Mailemental will be a reward from the achievement Priority Mail.

Players will need to complete a questchain, starting with "Lost Mail", to gain access to the mini-game by which you earn the achievement.

Mailemental
To begin the quest, you must find and loot a clickable letter (Lost Mail) on the ground near a mailbox in Dalaran, Broken Isles. It's unclear what the respawn timer is on this letter, or if there are multiple spawn points.

Upon completion of the questchain, you'll be awarded the pet plus a Bind On Use item that allows you to pass on the quest to another player, à la Brawler's Guild invites.

For more information on how to collect this pet, Wowhead has a detailed preview on the quests and mini-game.

New Wild Pet?
Scorpid Skitterer
Silithus' zone update might also bring us another pet, Scorpid Skitterers (pictured right).

These wild critters can be found all over The Wound in Silithus, however unlike normal wild pets, the paw print icon above their head is gold in color and they cannot be engaged in a Pet Battle at this time.

We'll have to wait and see if the Scorpid Skitterer will be collectible, as the Pet Journal on the PTR does not yet list it.

Winter Helpers — Pet of the Month: December 2017

December 11, 2017
Winter Helpers - Pet of the Month December 2017

Feast of Winter Veil is just around the corner! We're kicking off celebrations early with two festive battle pets, but it's a bit tough coaxing them away from their holiday duties during the off-season. This month we're covering the Father Winter's Helper and Winter's Little Helper.

Collecting the Winter Helpers
Winter's Helper
Father Winter's Helper and Winter's Little Helper are two battle pets that have a chance to drop from the Gaily Wrapped Present during the Feast of Winter Veil in-game event.

Players can find this lootable gift under the holiday tree in Ironforge and Orgrimmar on Christmas day (and not a day earlier than December 25th).

The present can drop a number of other holiday-themed battle pets as well. These two pets are Bind On Use and cageable, so if you're unlucky with the present under the tree, you may be able to trade/buy the Winter Helpers instead.

Father Winter's Helper
Be sure to have a Flawless Battlestone ready for these two companions; their base quality is only Uncommon (green).

The Winter Helpers are pretty stubborn (and very vocal about it!) and will not stay summoned for long outside of the Winter Veil holiday — something about being too preoccupied preparing for the gifting season.

Despite their busy schedules, they manage to have enough time to join your Pet Battling encounters any time of the year should you wish them to. Go figure.

Once the in-game event is active they'll gladly accompany you on your wintry adventures for as long as you'll have them, and will even mount up on their own little reindeer.

What better way to celebrate Feast of Winter Veil than to have a Winter Helper at your side? With how busy they are during the rest of the year, the holiday season is really your only chance to fully enjoy their company!

Battling with the Winter Helpers
The Father Winter's Helper and Winter's Little Helper are identical when battling. Both only have the B/B breed to worry about, and all their base stats are the same. They also have identical movesets.

They have one real straightforward move with Elemental damage Snowball in the first slot. Most of their moves are Elemental, with the Magic move Gift of Winter's Veil as the outlier. It's a big nuke, but with a long cool down, so it has to be used judiciously.

Winter's Little Helper casting Ice Lance during Call Blizzard
As with most good Winter Veil elves, a lot of their best stuff works around the cold. They use the weather effect Call Blizzard to apply a chill effect to their opponent for major Ice Lance damage. Unfortunately if your opponent is an Elemental or has a weather effect of their own to trade, this combo is easily neutralized.

My personal favorite of all the moves the Helpers have is Ice Tomb. It can be a bit tricky to use, but after a few turns it deals big damage and stuns your opponent. It's fairly telegraphed so it can be dodged easily by your opponent if they have any dodging or debuff removal tools. The final move in the set the helpers have is one such removal tool. In addition to being a great little seasonal pick-me-up, Eggnog removes all buffs and debuffs from the user on a 2 round cooldown.

These pets are great for Family Familiar challenges due to their off-family moves. They don't have much healing or sustain though, so use them primarily for burst, or just to fill out a team. They are quite charming, after all.

Season's Greetings from WarcraftPets

December 22, 2017
Season's Greetings from WarcraftPets!

A Caroling Collecting We Will Go
Don't forget the Feast of Winter Veil in-game event includes many seasonal pets to collect:

The first four pets can drop from the [Gaily Wrapped Present] found under the Winter Veil trees in Orgrimmar and Ironforge beginning on December 25th. The next four can be obtained through the "You're a Mean One" daily quest.

The Grumpling drops from lootable Snow Mounds in the Winter Veil daily quest area in Frostfire Ridge, Draenor.

And last but not least, the newest pet of the season is the Globe Yeti. This wild pet can be found energetically zooming around inside the giant snow globes in Ironforge and Orgrimmar. Only one spawns at a time and it will despawn within a few minutes if no one is around to capture it. It has a relatively short respawn time (roughly 30 minutes).

Happy Holidays
We'd like to thank the community for supporting WarcraftPets over the years. It's our ongoing privilege to provide a resource and service to all of you pet enthusiasts. We look forward to bringing you more exciting pets and news throughout the New Year.

Warmest wishes for a pet-filled 2018, along with a generous RNG.wink
