Love (and Pets) are in the Air

February 07, 2010
NEW Pet! Blizzard surprised us all this morning with a completely new pet, the Toxic Wasteling, only available during Love is in the Air, which began today. This glistening globule drops from Apothecary Hummel, a new 82 elite boss toiling about deep in Shadowfang Keep. In addition to the pet, Hummel drops a variety of other cool items including the new Big Love Rocket (no innuendos, please).

Purchasable Peddlefeet
Love is in the Air also received its long-awaited overhaul. Much like the Midsummer Fire Festival and Noblegarden, this event was reworked to provide much more fun! Gone are the Pledges and Gifts of Adoration that used to be such a burden to obtain. Now that ever-elusive Peddlefeet can be purchased for 40 Love Tokens, a new currency earned during the event.

We wish everyone loads of luck obtaining these love-inducing pets.

The Plushies Are <strike>Coming</strike> Here!

February 22, 2010
Wind Rider and Gryphon Plushies}
UPDATE: The plushies are now available to order from the Blizzard Pet Store!

Blizzard has just announced the first two new plush pets: Wind Rider Cub and Gryphon Hatchling! These little cuties, which come with codes for their corresponding in-game vanity pets, will be available for purchase "in the weeks ahead."

The Pet Store is about to go plush! Introducing the Wind Rider Cub and Gryphon Hatchling, the first in a new line of cuddly, crafty critters scheduled to arrive exclusively in the online Blizzard Store in the weeks ahead. Each plush companion will come with a code for a matching in-game, non-combat, account-bound pet to fly by your side in Azeroth. Both Horde and Alliance players will be able to adopt either pet once they hatch in the online Blizzard Store. Keep your eyes on the sky -- and the official World of Warcraft website -- for more information.

So that solves the mystery of these formerly "MIA" pets. I can't wait to order mine so my plush Lurky can have some pals and I can add some new companion pets to my collection! We'll let you know when they become available for purchase.

Patch 3.3.3 PTR and TCG Pets

February 24, 2010
Blue Clockwork Rocket Bot
UPDATE: According to the 3.3.3 patch notes, the engineering pets Lil' Smoky and Pet Bombling will no longer be bind-on-pickup.

Also, another new pet was datamined: Celestial Dragon. Very cool!

Patch 3.3.3
Two new pets were datamined from the PTR according to MMO-Champion. The Blue Clockwork Rocket Bot is sold by Jepetto's Clockwork Assistant in the Dalaran toy shop for 50g (40g with discount). As for the Frigid Frostling, we will just have to wait and see.

  • Frigid Frostling - Right Click to summon and dismiss your Frigid Frostling.
  • Blue Clockwork Rocket Bot - Right Click to summon and dismiss your wind-up Clockwork Rocket Bot.

TCG
Blizzard announced that they will not be renewing the WoW TCG license with Upper Deck. According to Upper Deck current "World of Warcraft products will available through the end of March. Upcoming products such as the Class Starter Deck, Wrathgate Booster, Souls of Vengeance Starter, Deluxe Starter and Booster will not go into production."

So if you are interested in adding any of the TCG pets to your collection, you'd better act quickly. We also suggest that you not delay in redeeming your UDE points for WoW items such as Landro's Pet Box.

The WoW TCG will continue, though not through Upper Deck. What all this means for the future of TCG pets remains uncertain. If Blizzard simply replaces TCG pets with Pet Store pets, I'm sure many a pet collector will be very grateful!
