The mob only has a chance to spawn and then only has a chance to drop the pet. Expect this to require a lot of trips to UBRS.

Seems like the spawn date has changed. I've searched the whole zone several times the past three days, and nothing. This on a low pop server where you can't take two steps in Felwood without stepping on a Minfernal, so it's not like others are camping the spawns.

This pet is easily overlooked for battling, but it's one of very few pets that have a spamable aquatic attack that isn't elemental or aquatic itself. Considering that the Pandaria trainers have a lot of elementals (bonus damage taken from aquatic attacks) accompanied by fliers and aquatics but no mechanicals, this is a solid choice for an elemental slaying spot in your battle team.

@Berenzen: Moonfang sitting untouched for 90 minutes is in no way a dead realm. On Scarshield Legion we had to drag together literally half the online level 90 characters on the Horde side to kill it, resulting in a magnificent raid of 16 people.

Assuming there's no level restriction for looting, creating an alt on a high pop realm and parking that on the Darkmoon Island may be the best approach for low pop people. There are no hostile mobs on the island anyway.

Pet battle addons will sometimes show this pet as "???" breed at level 1. This seems to be because the H/B and H/S breeds have the exact same stats at level 1 (158/10/12). Once you level them up to level 2, you should be able to see what breed it is. Either way, you can be sure it's not a B/B or P/B, as those have different stats at level 1.

Can be caged, so no need to grind the reputation yourself. Just bother some old TBC player to go and buy one for you.

If you lack humanoids, you can beat Yu'la with a random undead vulnerability team. Things like Unholy Ascension and Rabid Strike will negate the legendary defense buff, and then you just need to grind it down with attacks. Curse of Doom works wonders and Ghostly Bite can be used just before liftoff to negate the stun.

My Ghostly Skull and Stitched Pup did it on their own, and the third pet (a Blighted Squirrel) never got to fight.

Drops from the alemental miniboss who spawns at the end of the skunky brew event in Old Pi'jiu village. He spawns once the "skunky brew" counter reaches ten. You can increase it either by killing alemental trash or by destroying kegs on the ground (there are 5-6 of them spread around the area).

Once completed, the event resets after 30-60 minutes. Never less than 30, never more than 60. Gu'chi and Imperial Python can spawn nearby, so keep an eye out for them if you're camping.

Drops from the rare spawn frog Bufo. Unlike a lot of the other animal rares on the island, Bufo is not linked to the animals around him and killing frogs doesn't cause him to spawn. Instead he simply respawns on a timer, reappearing between 30 and 60 minutes after being killed. Never less, never more.

Like a lot of the other pets on the island, getting this frog is simply an exercise in patience. Do something else for 30 minutes, camp for 1-30 minutes, repeat.

Like many of the other pet rares, the Jadefire Spirit that this drops from respawns on a 30-60 minute timer. Never less than 30 minutes, never more than 60 minutes. Camp the cave until it spawns, kill it, then go do something else for half an hour. Horrible drop rate, so expect to do this for a few days.

You can kill all the non-rare elementals in the cave while you wait if you feel like it, as they also drop a pet. It can be a good way to kill time while camping.

Respawns on a timer. Minimum 30 minutes, maximum 60 minutes, so go do something else for half an hour after you kill him. He spawns at the south-east edge of Old Pi'jiu village, by the water.

The alemental event is right next door (on a separate 30-60 min respawn timer), so you can do that while you wait. You can evem pull alementals out to Gu'chi's spawn point if you're worried about missing him.

Respawns on a timer, randomly between 30 and 60 minutes. I farmed it by simply parking a character up there for a few days. After killing Garnia, I'd set a timer for 30 minutes and go do something else. Come back and wait 1-30 minutes for him to spawn, then repeat.

You can fish up there as a way to pass the time, and have a chance to get a tiny carp pet while you wait. One of the people I camped with got it while we were up there fishing.

They are cheap, uncommon quality when purchased, and come in three possible breeds (H/B, H/P, H/H). Make sure you have the breed you want before using a stone.

Seems to be a 5-10% drop rate. I've gotten several of them just from poking the occasional nest while running around looking for rares. All uncommon quality.

Note that this drops from a rare spawn crab, not from the regular elite crabs found all along the shore.

New Christmas gift package drop added for the 2013 Winter Veil.

The build you want depends on what abilities you want to use. If you plan to use Overtune, there's no point in going for speed (as you'll get +100% speed anyway). If you plan to use Extra Plating, you'll benefit more from being fast.

This pet can be farmed in bulk (for selling/trading) if you can spare an 80+ alt. While getting to the spot where the rare spawns requires a certain daily quest, you can just camp your alt there. Check for the rare spawn each time you log on or off, and you'll get a bunch of these with minimal effort.

A surprisingly useful PvP pet if used with Charge+Minefield+Ion. The minefield does a lot of damage and discourages the enemy from swapping, Charge ensures you always go first (ruining any enemy abilities that rely on them being faster) and deals bonus damage against dragons, while Ion Cannon is a great finisher (for when your pet is about to die or it will end the match).

In particular, you can often take out the enemy's third pet in a single round with Minefield (before it switches in) and Ion Cannon.
