Cave's the way to go.  Just got mine there after about 12 casts.

After many many Albatross trips and camping at the lake, I finally got this pet on my second Garnia kill of the day.  Spawn is usually around the top of the hour, give or take.  IF you happen to be up there by yourself, be sure you can solo the mob.  If you die, it's a long trip back up and you probably won't get back up there before others gank her.  Sometimes it's best to wait for backup. Pet looks great.

Finally got an ungriefed Albatross up to the first natural tower where you see about 4 of these spawned.  Cleared them but no rare.  Caught an Uncommon and I am waiting to see how long the respawn is now that I am up here.

 

 

UPDATE:  ARGH!  After about 20-25 minutes they started to respawn, but only 3 and 2 were NON battle pets.

 

 

Also of note, if you are planning to take an Albatross back off the tower...good luck.  They rarely come by and when they do, they have someone.

I know people probably hate posts like this, but I didn't even know this pet was rare until I looted one today after beating Jeremy for the first time.  Didn't even know I could get a pet from him.  Came here right away as soon as I realized I had a pet in my bag.  Finally a little luck from the RNG gods!

Just logged on an alt (Thrall) that I had left camping Snowdrift Plains. At first didn't notice it snowing, but saw the pet icon for one of the kits. Once I landed and engaged could see the storm better. On ultra settings, but when you are flying it can be hard to see. Have to hold still for a minute. So snagged a kit to cap off a great 2 days for me. Got Silithid Hatchling and Minfernal yesterday. Kit today.Btw, snowstorm didn't last long. All kits despawned when over. Flat areas only not true.

Wow. Literally. I too just got one on Thrall. Capping off a good day.  Earlier I picked up 2 rare Silithid Hatchlings and decided to shuffle that particular alt to Felwood.  As usual, was surrounded by CRZ campers.  So having read the comments, I decided to focus on the north ridge, clearing all tainted rats, green pawed or not.  I left all the campers down in the main pool area.  Took a break to mess with talents, bout to leave, flew a little to left, bingo!

Also got mine on Thrall today.  Had left an alt there and was logging in on him periodically to check.  Was doing that for about 3 days, and today when I logged in there was a sandstorm going.  Tons of them were crawling about.  Managed 2 rares and a rare Sand Kitten.  The sandstorm stayed up forever (I got tired and logged before it ended) and there were plenty of spawns and respawns.
